Training in HIV Risk Reduction Services for Seropositive Individuals
The
HIV risk reduction program is an intensive, individualized support and
prevention counseling service designed to assist those living with HIV.
This
one-on-one client-centered service aims at reducing the transmission of
HIV, preventing further re-infection or co-infection, and thus enabling
clients to continue living healthy and productive lives. This service
is based on ASC's risk reduction program implemented in New York City
and is intended for persons who are having or who are likely to have
difficulty initiating and sustaining safer-sex behavior.
Training in HIV risk reduction will cover the following topics:
Risk Assessment
Developing Effective Service Plans
Client-centered counseling
Partner notification
Domestic violence
Individual level intervention
Group intervention
Referrals
Outcome evaluation
Participants of the training will gain skills in:
Designing a client-centered service plan and service plan evaluation
Using individual behavior-change/modification and behavior change theories
Setting up client referral and follow-up systems
Organizing and conducting effective support group sessions
