Open
to all our HIV-positive clients, Programme SOLEIL is an integrated
health education and self-sufficiency program that takes a holistic
approach to helping immigrants living with HIV build healthy,
productive, independent lives.
Four afternoons a
week, SOLEIL workshops provide practical knowledge and skills in a
caring, supportive and multilingual environment. Participants benefit
from workshops on an array of topics including health literacy and
knowledge of HIV, cooking and nutrition classes, fitness and wellness,
computer literacy and personal finance. Qi yoga, acupuncture, a
drumming circle and an African lunch prepared together are part of
every week’s activities.
The Independent Living Skills program is coordinated by our
Community Advocate and facilitated by two trained African immigrant PWA
peer counselors who provide mentoring, counseling and intervention for
clients in need.
Advocacy is an integral part of SOLEIL and aims to enrich and
empower immigrants living with HIV to overcome barriers to health, lead
independent lives, challenge HIV stigma, be their own best advocates
and remain integrated and active in their communities.
