Health Events

African Services hosts regular health screening events at our Harlem offices and in the community to reach out to newcomers and neighbors alike.

These events are a popular way to learn about the public services available in the community and an important gateway to care for African and Caribbean immigrants. It is also an opportunity to utilize our on-site HIV/TB/STD testing center.

Providers from hospitals and clinics offer blood pressure, diabetes screening, urogenital care, and other health services. We also partner with Kress Vision/NYU Downtown Hospital for eye exams, treatment for chronic eye disease and free eyeglasses.

For immigrant patients in need of follow-up care, African Services provides referrals to hospitals throughout the city as well as escort and medical interpretation services.
