Wudenesh
Molla is a family case manager working with HIV-affected families to
support maintenance of care and treatment for positive individuals and
ensure the psychosocial well-being of the whole family unit. She
assists clients in obtaining health care and public entitlements and
helps them navigate the medical, legal, educational and social systems
that surround them. In this role, she provides intensive counseling,
interpretation and escort to clients and their families.
Wudenesh came to the U.S. in 1999 from Ethiopia and was granted asylum
with the assistance of African Services in 2000. Prior to that, she was
a journalist for the Ethiopian Television English Program and also
reported for CNN World Report for five years. She co-founded the
Ethiopian Media Women’s Association in Ethiopia and is now a member of
the Refugee Women’s Network in the U.S. Before joining African
Services, Wudenesh was a case manager/migration counselor at Catholic
Charities Community Services Archdiocese of New York working with
refugees and asylees from around the world. Previously, she also worked
for CAMBA. Wudenesh holds a BA in literature from Addis Ababa
University and speaks Amharic and English.
