Sharon
leads African Services’ resource development activities, including
donor prospecting, proposal writing and special event planning. A
graduate of the Wagner School at NYU, she was an Oprah Winfrey Scholar
and earned an MPA with a specialization in non-profit management and
policy. Prior to that, she worked for the Ford Foundation in Kenya as a
program assistant in the Human Rights and Social Justice Program, where
she provided programmatic support in managing a $1.2 million annual
grant portfolio including reviewing grant requests, preparing grant
recommendations, and liaising with and monitoring the portfolio’s 44
grantees. Born and raised in Kenya, Sharon has a BA in economics and
sociology from the University of Nairobi and has a particular interest
in economic development initiatives. She has worked on World Bank and
various UN agency projects in Sierra Leone, Kenya and the US. She
speaks Kiswahili and French, in addition to English.
