Ms.
Lugg joined African Services in March 2000 as the HOPWA Housing
Coordinator before moving to her current position as Community
Advocate. As the Community Advocate, Amanda works with African
Services’ clients and the community at large to increase awareness and
participation in issues pertinent to the African immigrant community
with a particular focus on access to healthcare and global HIV/AIDS
treatment access. She currently coordinates African Services’
Independent Living Skills program (SOLEIL), a progressive multi-service
program that provides clients with the support and skills they need to
be active and contributing members of the their immigrant communities.
She is a member of ACT UP New York and serves on the National Steering
Committee of Health GAP (Global Access Project). Amanda is of British
and Ugandan heritage and speaks English and French.
